Autumn colours dominate the landscape during these months, with settled weather and still light evenings its a popular time of year for outdoor events in the regions.
Experience our popular wine and food festivals, such as Ripe Wanaka, the Clyde wine and food festival the Southland Beer, Wine and Wild Food festival, Savour the South along with the world-famous Bluff Oyster & Food Festival, all with something different to offer, showcasing the best produce of our regions.
If running or multisport events are something you’re after, our Autumn events are well worth exploring. There is the well known Motutapu Trail Run or the Te Anau Enduro that are run early in the season, the Northburn 100, for the ultra-fit or for a team's event, the Gorge Adventure Race in Southland. To round off the season with beautiful autumn colours, the Arrowtown Autumn festival Fun Run is suitable for the family as well.
These next two events are run over Easter weekend, on alternate years and are sure to please everybody in the family. Warbirds over Wanaka showcases all things flying, from vintage aircraft, the latest from the New Zealand Airforce, to large and fast aircraft from other air forces based in the Pacific. Wheels at Wanaka is a type of big boys toys with machines new and old on display, exhibits and even some available for riding in and on.
Once you’ve finished here, head to Dunedin to experience the thrill of the Otago Rally, part of the New Zealand Rally championship.
